Wait for Me by Elisabeth Naughton

Kate accepted what her husband and friends have been telling her. She has amnesia. She woke up from a coma 18 months ago as a result of a horrible car accident. And for all intents and purposes, she will never gain her memory again. She has no reason to question her current life.

Until her husband dies from a plane crash.

And finds out, her husband is not who he says he is. Kate is not even who her husband says she is. In fact, her real husband is very much alive. And she has a daughter.

Ryan accepted that his wife passed away five years ago. Well, accepted may be a strong word. He has been encased in a block of emotional ice since Annie was killed in a plane crash five years ago. So why is she standing in his front lawn looking at him as if he was a stranger?

Okay… I know two plane crashes?

Can’t find another plot to dispose of the previous husband/stranger? That is my only complaint about the book. The rest of the story is quite good.

Fine let’s move on from that. The novel is about a woman whose previous life was taken from her and replaced by another. It is also about a husband who lost his soul mate, just to find her again. But Ryan feels as if Annie died all over again. He looks into his beloved eyes and all their love and history is not there. He only saw a stranger, politely looking back wearing his wife’s face.

Reading how Ryan reacted to his wife when she first came back was heartbreaking. He is suffering all over again because the wife he knew is gone forever. Kate is struggling as well. She has an entire family she does not remember, but they know about her. She also wants to know why she was lied to when she first woke from her coma.

Enter the suspense.

This was a good story. It was a good combination of romantic tragedy and suspense. All the characters in the story were well written and complex.

Loved the book. Four stars. Heat: medium
